The fiction voice

Romy Venn

Romy Venn is the fiction voice for the rooms people enter after sensible advice has stopped being useful. She notices the small physical facts that expose larger appetites: a hand that waits too long at a zipper, a question asked through somebody else's partner, or a rule designed less to prevent a touch than to make both people imagine it.

Her stories stay close to desire without prosecuting or excusing it. She is interested in secrecy, infidelity, jealousy, tenderness, vanity and the private bargains people make with longing—especially when nobody involved can quite defend what they want or stop wanting it. Bodies matter because they carry power, memory and choice; explicitness matters only when it changes the relationship.

Romy resists tidy moral conclusions. Her endings leave pressure alive: a message answered, a rule kept, a door reopened or a future that remains tempting precisely because it has not been settled.

Editorial standards

Truthful about the form.

Every piece identifies its treatment. Reported accounts may change names and identifying details, compress time or reconstruct moments from memory. Fiction is labelled as fiction. Named bylines are editorial identities used to give each kind of story a consistent point of view, not claims about public biographies.

Read Between Bets is an 18+ publication. Main is mature, sensual and often non-explicit. After Dark is the clearly labelled section for strongly explicit work. All sexual characters in the fiction are adults.

Privacy

Only what opens the door.

Read Between Bets uses Supabase for passwordless reader accounts and stores the minimum Patreon membership connection needed to unlock After Dark. Patreon handles payment, renewal and cancellation; Read Between Bets does not receive your card details. Railway serves the publication and may process standard request and security logs.

Account data consists of the email and session information required for sign-in. Membership data consists of Patreon account and member identifiers, tier and entitlement status, charge status and date, and the amount Patreon reports as entitled. Story-access events record the account, requested story, outcome and time so abuse can be limited and access problems investigated. No advertising cookies or third-party analytics are currently installed.

Membership terms

One tier. One recurring charge. Every After Dark story.

RBB All-Access costs $8 USD per month before any tax or currency conversion Patreon displays at checkout. Patreon is the billing entity and the membership renews automatically until it is cancelled in Patreon settings. For Patreon's subscription-billing memberships, cancellation stops the next renewal and access normally remains available until the next billing date.

Read Between Bets opens the complete After Dark library while Patreon reports that the connected account holds the qualifying paid tier. Failed payment, expiry, cancellation at the end of the paid period, a tier change or loss of the Patreon account can end access. Membership is personal and does not transfer ownership or republication rights. Refund and payment requests are handled under Patreon's terms; nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be waived.
